Where does our #inspo come from? Well… It all began when I was a young girl. My Grandma was ALWAYS dressed to the nines. Even as a housewife… she still woke up every day, did her makeup, picked out the most sassy outfit and matched her accessories like she planned it! I asked her one day… “Grandma, Why? Why do you put on makeup even before bed? Or get all dressed up with no where to go?” Her answer was simple. “It makes me feel good, AND you never know when Jesus is comin’ back and I want to be ready!” I feel that says so much. She taught me to love myself while making sure that I knew who Jesus was. From that, came my love for fashion and all things associated. After spending several years has a Hair Stylist and Salon Owner… I expanded my knowledge into retail. I learned so much… but through this journey there was this overwhelming feeling of staying true to myself and sharing that with others! Then the day came! I was going to do it! During a series of events in 2020… I felt God blew the door wide open and said “Now.” So, here we are! I get to do what I am passionate about. My goal is to help women know their worth! Inside and out!

So, what does the cacti in the logo and the name have to do with everything? Well, there we were... tossing names around and nothing seemed right. Then one day… my husband said “Small Town Roots” and immediately I knew it. That was the name. It spoke to me on so many levels. I feel that in this life… we are so fast paced. We can get caught up in the craziness of life… but we have to always remember “who we are” and sometimes “go back to our roots” to truly gain focus. I feel that my Grandma and Grandpa always tried to teach me this. My Grandpa always said “Don’t ever forget where you came from.” I don’t necessarily feel that has to mean a location. But, rather sometimes it can mean to not forget your humble beginnings. To go out there and make a life for yourself and family… but don’t forget who you are.

Because of this concept and what the name means to me… I felt a symbol for my life would be a cactus. Then came the logo process. Lord knows… I am not an artist! So, there we were… on our first Family Road Trip with our baby girl. Going through the desert in west Texas. The canyons at Big Bend are filled with so many different types of cacti. I just kept having this image in my head that I could not shake. That evening, I started researching cacti and why if felt so deeply significant to me.

This is what I found: Just like flowers, cacti and succulents have their own symbolic meaning. Cacti are strong, enduring, and tough. They’ve survived and found a way to grow in barren desert wastelands that get very little rain. Isn’t that amazing? That’s why the cactus has come to represent endurance, tenacity and strength in the face of adversity—they survive even when it seems impossible. If someone gives you cacti plants, they think you’re a resilient fighter. They’ve seen everything that you’ve gone through and they think that you’re a tough, strong survivor. Someone who can bounce back from the toughest of times. If you’re currently going through a tough time, someone may give you a cactus to let you know that you got this! Sometimes we all forget our inner strength and feel a little defeated. But hopefully, that cactus on your shelf will serve as a reminder that you can handle whatever life throws at you! Native American cultures believe that the cactus represents warmth, protection, and motherly love. Because cacti plants can survive in harsh conditions, they’ve become a symbol of unconditional, maternal love. A mother’s love is strong and enduring just like a cactus!

So, here I am… a new mom in this midst of a layoff due to covid. My husband’s business slowed down as well. The world itself seemingly came to a halt as well with so much uncertainty. Because of all of this… the above info on Cacti hit home for me. Resiliency. Strength. All things that I feel EVERY woman possesses. Deep down in her soul. We are amazing, Ladies! I hope you find more than just a cute shirt when you are following us. I hope you feel that love that is packed into every process. I hope you know that you are BEAUTIFUL and that you got this! No matter what … you are worth it!

Love, Lindsey Kuhn
